1958 PARTICIPANTS AS OF SEMI FINALS

From a total of 93 candidates, 23 were allowed into the semi-finals. Their names are listed below. The finals took place with 14 remaining contesters. Among the winners, the Dutch baritone Bernard Kruysen stands out. Among those who did not pass to the finals we mention the greatest Lulu of the 1960's and 70's Evelyn Lear, and the later star of the New York City opera, the all round tenor Michele Molese. For an evaluation of more local careers we refer you to the Intro and the Winners pages.
